Meet Dr. John Coburn
I was born in Sandpoint and raised in North Idaho. When the weather is nice I enjoy the outdoors camping, fishing and hiking. I have an 11 year old daughter Makita, who is my whole world. We also have a puppy Kiska is her name she is an Alaskan Malamute. When I have free time I enjoy camping, fishing, shopping and traveling.
As a family-friendly practice, we develop wonderful relationships with our patients. It is always a good feeling to see people coming through our door with smiles on their faces, looking forward to their visit, and then their smiles and thanks as they leave, because we have exceeded their expectations with gentle, compassionate care. I ensure everything runs smoothly in the office, so our team can concentrate on providing an exceptional experience to every patient. I am here to help patients find the payment arrangements that work for them, make sure they are able to maximize their insurance benefits, and answer questions about care and treatment options.
Hi, I'm one of the smiling faces you see when you come into our office. I've been a patient here for years and when the opportunity arose to join the team, I jumped at it. I now get to greet each and every one of you when you arrive, make you feel at ease while you're here, coordinate appointments, manage telephone calls. It's a family-feeling here and I love that I am the newest member and hope to make a positive difference for the patients and staff!
I came from the east coast with 20 plus years office experience in asthma and allergy. I now call CDA my home with both my and my husband's parents nearby, our 3 kids, Dogbert, and 5 cats. My hobbies include several book clubs, the Striders' walking group, hiking, and most outdoor activities.
I started my dental career in 2000 as a certified dental assistant before going to Eastern Washington University for dental hygiene and graduated in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree. I always knew that teeth were a passion of mine and I find it remarkable how such a small portion of a person’s body has such a significant role in a person’s overall health, well-being and self-esteem.
I appreciate working at a practice where patient’s come first. I also enjoy sharing a good laugh with my teammates. I am coming up on my 10-year anniversary here at this practice and I love and treasure the relationships I have with my patients. Individualizing each patient’s care and going above and beyond their expectations is very important to me. I do my best to ease their stress and stay current on research that pertains to their mouth and overall health.
I am a Liberty Lake native and now reside in Greenacres, but I feel Coeur d’Alene is like a second home to me. My parents were both born in North Idaho, and I have numerous family ties in Wisconsin as well. (Go Packers and Hawks!) My husband and I spend our free time with our wonderful daughter, Ava, and we enjoy our summers with family on Diamond Lake, WA. You will either see us on the water or on the ski mountain. We have two Chinese pugs and a Siamese. I adore all animals and wish I could have more. Ava and I love volunteering our time walking dogs at our local humane society. I enjoy all seasons, traveling, a good book, a home-cooked meal, and a great cup of coffee.
I am a Registered Dental Hygienist and graduated from the Univeristy of Colorado with my Bachelor of Science degree. I have over 14 years of experience in dentistry. I began working at Ideal Family Dentistry with Dr. Coburn in 2015. I enjoy being outside in the beautiful Inland Northwest. I love to ride my horse on trail rides, take my 3 yellow labs swimming and do glass work on the side (stained, fused, and lampworking). The area is great to stimulate my love of photography as well.
My favorite part about working at Ideal Family Dentistry is working in an office that not only cares about their patients but likes to laugh and have fun.
I love that I get to help give people back their beautiful smiles. When a person feels good about their smile, they’re more confident and happier, and being a part of helping a person have a better life is very rewarding.. In our practice, I am an E4D Tech, which means I design our same-day crowns. Restoring a smile in just a few short hours is a service I take great pride in. As well as creating crowns, I also provide chairside assistance to Dr. Coburn as he performs dental procedures. In addition to supporting him, I am there for the patient, telling them what the doctor is doing and checking to make sure they are comfortable throughout the process.
I was born and raised in Iowa, and moved to Idaho in 1999 to play volleyball for NIC. The area is so beautiful I never left! I still enjoy playing volleyball and softball for recreation, and also love to spend time at the gym. I currently live in Coeur d’Alene with my partner, two kids, four dogs, and one cats. We are an active family that loves to be outside, enjoying all that the area offers.
By far and away, our patients are the best part of my job. It is so nice to be close to people and learn about them. They inspire me, every day, and to help them with their dental needs is incredibly rewarding. Even better, I work in a practice where the focus is always on providing the most ethical, gentle, and effective dental care for our patients. They are our highest priority. I spend most of my work day assisting Dr. Coburn in all facets of dental care, making sure he has everything he needs during a procedure, and providing support to our patient, whether they need a bit of reassurance and encouragement or want to be distracted. I also help our hygienists as much as I can and order the dental materials for the office.
I love animals and grew up on a cattle ranch in Central Idaho. I love to ride horses, especially my spoiled and wonderful Appaloosa mare. I also have two heelers, three cats, and one clown knife fish. Gardening is a passion of mine, a good glass of wine, and staying in shape.
